Artistic Bowls
Each item that we create begins with a pattern that is placed on a sheet of glass, traced and then cut out to continue the construction process. Often items are not a simple rectangle, so the bits and pieces that are trimmed from curves and circles provide a wide array of scrap. We’ve collected these pieces – without a specific plan – for quite a while.
In searching through the scrap bin, I found several predominant colors and collected various shades of blue for one bowl and in the warm range of red/yellow/orange for another bowl. These pieces were then randomly fused on a clear base, with coordinating frit creating a decorative frame for the piece. After fusing, the piece was slumped into this shallow bowl shape, approximately 7” square, creating a textured bowl that is also a work of art!
We enjoy making items that represent special times or special people. If you want a special item, contact us by emailing here or contact us on Facebook. DarionGlass will be showing these bowls at the Fellowship Presbyterian Church craft show on Nov 10 and 11. We hope to see you there!
