Reclaimed Art

Last year I decided to create an art project that I call The Tree of Life.  It is a series of three different panels that depict the lifecycle of a single tree.  Since this was just an idea that popped into my head, I didn’t have much of a model to work from, so I just began working on the project and let things develop organically.  When I got to the mature tree, on the largest panel, it took me a couple of tries to get the look I wanted.  On the right are two of my tries, with the one on the right being the one that more fit my vision.  So, with the tree on the left, I had a large piece of art – and an investment in time and glass – that I didn’t feel was sellable.

This year, when looking through my box of rejected glass projects (yes, I have a whole box of them!) the tree above on the left caught my eye.  I decided to try and reclaim the art and re-purpose it for a different project.  Trimmed down, re-shaped and re-fused, the tree now makes a unique statement piece as a spoonrest.  The additional fusing removed the original texture, so that the tree is smooth and ready for its next – and best - life.

We enjoy making items that represent special times or special people.  If you want a special item, contact us by emailing here or contact us on Facebook.
